Not Everything Has to Match

This cabinet doesn’t “match” the rest of the room.

And that’s exactly why I love it.

Vintage pieces have a way of standing out and settling in at the same time.

This butler’s pantry was saved from a house built in 1865 by @bluegrassmarket.

I had my eye on another cabinet but it sold right before I made my way to the booth. Luckily, Tyler had pictures of this cabinet on his phone and after a few negotiations, he offered to deliver it from Kentucky to Birmingham!

It sat in my garage on its side for almost a year and for the longest I wasn’t sure where I would use it. Slow decorating at its best! I went back and forth between my studio, the pantry, and the kitchen. You can see where it ended up!

The builders, carpenters, cabinet makers and installers all thought I was crazy and didn’t understand why it didn’t “match”. Throw my husband in that group, too, but he trusts me and wouldn’t have said a word!

✨ Would you put something old in a brand-new space?

I would love to know where you’ve used an old piece that didn’t “match”.
