Ciao from Italy! 🇮🇹 💃

My husband Connor and I are in Italy today, and when I tell you that this trip totally snuck up on me, that couldn’t be more true!

One minute I was knee-deep in work (planning retreats), and the next I was packing a suitcase for Italy. But here we are, and I know so many of you love hearing about travel plans and itineraries, so here’s a little peek at ours.

Connor and I are starting with two days in Rome which is exciting with the announcement of the new Pope. We’ll visit the Vatican (it’s a Jubilee year, which is apparently a big spiritual pilgrimage year in the Catholic tradition?) and go on a secret food tour, which feels like the thing to do in Italy. 🍝

Then we’re off to Florence to stay in a beautiful apartment, see a friend, and hopefully squeeze in a cooking class before our kids arrive on Sunday.

We’ll antique in Lucca (you knew it), tour vineyards, cook pasta, hike to waterfalls, and take a little chartered boat around a lake. It’s packed, but even typing out these words makes me realize how amazingly special this time is going to be with the people I love most 🥹

And when I get home? It’s right back into real life. I’m literally heading to NYC days later to help my daughter move.

My point is, the “busyness” will definitely be waiting on the other side of this trip.

But right now, I want to fully be here.
To embrace the creativity and chaos that travel brings. To fill my senses. To hug my people and soak in inspiration I know will pour into every area of my life.

Can you relate? That (tense) feeling of pressing pause for beauty, knowing the ‘work’ will be there when you get back?

If you’re craving a little inspiration of your own, here’s your sign to plan an impromptu trip! Or maybe try creating something with your hands. My Art of Bookbinding workshop is open—and it’s a beautiful, simple way to come back to yourself.
