How to Let Summer Inspire You
I just got home from a whirlwind of travel. So many beautiful places, people I love, and moments I’ll never ever forget. Returning home after traveling through the final weeks of Spring and into the beginning of Summer made me realize something…
It’s so easy not to LET ourselves be inspired.
Despite the longer days and lingering sunshine that is practically begging us to notice, we stay busy. We move fast. We tell ourselves we’ll make time for the fun, creative things later.
But do you know what I love most about true inspiration? It doesn’t need us to ‘feel ready’. It’s out there every day…quietly inviting us to recognize it.
This summer, I want to say yes to that invitation. What about you?
Here are a few ways I’m letting summer stir up my creativity—and maybe these will be the nudge you need, too:
1. Get a Little Crafty
Y’all already know that I believe in the magic of making something with your hands, especially when there’s no pressure for it to be perfect. Whether it’s drawing a weekly sketch, picking wildflowers for a messy bouquet, or stitching something small just for fun, getting crafty is a simple way to reconnect with your playful side.
If you’re craving a little creative project with purpose, my Art of Bookbinding course is the perfect place to start. You’ll learn to create a handmade journal from start to finish—a beautiful way to capture summer memories or set intentions for the season ahead. It’s something you can do just for yourself, with your kids/grandkids… or with a friend over chilled white wine and laughter.
2. Let Yourself Be Moved by Travel
Listen, I know I’ve been globe-trotting from Italy to New York and special places in between, but here’s the truth: you don’t need a passport to be inspired. A quick road trip, a walk through a new neighborhood, or even a detour to that small-town antique store you always pass…any shift in scenery can wake up your senses. I can feel it even typing these words!
Traveling basically requires you to notice things. To pay attention. And that is the start to creativity.
That said… if you’re dreaming of Paris, I’d love to have you join me on my Fall 2025 Paris Curated retreat. Think: vintage treasures, café mornings, creative inspiration on every corner. The trip sold out (eek!) but we opened up the possibility of a couple more spots…click here and I’ll tell you more!
3. Pay attention to nature.
Is there anything better than the way the earth comes alive in the summertime? Flowers, fresh veggies, leaves, and plants that are just growing like crazy? As silly as it sounds, a great (and super doable) way to tap into creativity and inspiration is to keep a little basket near the door or a journal nearby and start collecting—whether it’s physical pieces or just words that come to you on a walk. How fun would this be to do with your kids or grandkids, too!?
Sometimes I press leaves into a handmade book, collect unique finds in a pretty vintage jar, or scribble little notes about what I saw or felt. Friendly reminder: It doesn’t have to mean anything to anyone else.

No matter where you are or what your life looks like, summer invites you to live a little more fully. To find creativity in the everyday.
And if you need a place to begin, come make something with me.
Do the bookbinding course. Come to Paris. Or simply take your shoes off, step outside, and breathe it all in.
This is your reminder: inspiration is everywhere.
