3 Types Of Content You Should Be Publishing

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Content is king”? It’s the truth, and as online business owners we can’t just create a fantastic product or service and expect sales to just start rolling in. We have to create content surrounding who we are as a brand, gain our target audience’s trust and loyalty, and continually produce a stream of content to keep our brand top of mind. PS: All of this content doesn’t have to be brand new, it can be repurposed, but we’ll get into that later. For now I want to talk about the 3 main types of content your brand should be publishing on a regular basis.

 Social Media Posts

Your brand should be on at least one social platform and should be regularly posting about things like product updates, testimonials, behind-the-scenes, and more. As consumers we spend SO much time on social media, being bombarded with all types of content (and 234562 ads) so it’s important that you really put thought and strategy into your content plan.

Email Campaigns

I can’t say this loud enough… You DO NOT own your social media channels. While they are a great way to connect with your audience, what would happen if they up and disappeared tomorrow? What if you had 10K or more customers…. GONE?! My friend, it’s time to set up an email list ASAP and get your followers to convert over to your email list. The best way to do that is by creating something of value (checklist/downloadable/e-book) and asking for their email address via a landing page in exchange. It’s important to note that you can’t just “ask” your audience for their email address. Think about how many emails you get a day… do you really want to sign up for ANOTHER email list if it doesn’t provide you value? No!

Blog Posts / Website Content

While social media posts and your email campaigns may give your audience a “taste” of what your brand is all about, your website is where your brand REALLY gets to shine. Creating blog posts on a regular basis 1) positions you as an industry expert and 2) gives you a starting point to be able to repurpose content later on. Also, remember to update any information on your website that is outdated. If a new potential customer visits your website and sees that you still have a Christmas Holiday Pop-Up, they might get the wrong idea that you don’t care enough about your business to update your information.
