3 Simple Ways to spruce up your space (on any budget)

Have you ever been hit by the inspiration bug?

If you’re scratching your head wondering what on Earth I’m talking about, here’s what I mean…

The cool, Fall breeze rolls in and suddenly you’re craving the smells and feels of the new season to be present in your home…

You visit a friend’s new beach house and suddenly you’re itching to bring a more coastal vibe into your space…

You watch a documentary about minimalism and suddenly you’re ready to purge the clutter that has taken over your living room…

You’ve been stressed by the speed of life lately and suddenly you want to press in and reimagine the safe place you call home…

Do any of these scenarios resonate with you? Even if not, if you’re anything like me, there are times when you simply desire a change in your space. Sometimes, this “bug” hits me alongside a change in seasons, or like in the examples above, sometimes it hits on a random Tuesday after being inspired by something/someone!

I used to believe that breathing new life into a space meant a complete overhaul. I’m talking big, expensive changes. Over time, I’ve learned that there are quick, easy ways to spruce up our surroundings…and it most certainly doesn’t have to break the bank

SO whether you’re yearning for the smells and feels of Autum in your living room, or you’re looking to add some personal flair to your home in general, here are 3 simple ways to spruce up your space (on any budget):

  1. Accessorize: This one is for all of my Target and Home Goods lovers! Accessorizing is one of the best ways to bring new energy into your space. And with stores like the ones I just mentioned, budget-friendly is totally an option! Consider adding and/or replacing things like throw pillows, blankets, coffee table decor, picture frames, and other low-cost items. These seemingly small changes yield a big difference in the way your space feels! Plus, this one is great for seasonal items.

  2. Rearrange: Remember when you were a kid and wanted to rearrange the furniture in your bedroom like all the time? Or was that just me? Switching up the layout of your already existing pieces is the perfect way to refresh a space. Trust me on this one - it’ll feel like a whole new room…and the best part? You can always change it back if you don’t like the new layout.

  3. Create: As someone who loves to create, you know I had to include this one! But I want to encourage you - even if you don’t consider yourself to be a naturally creative person, stretching your mind and trying new skills (like painting or hand-stiching) can be such a fun way to add a very personal touch to your space! If you’re thinking “sounds great, but I don’t even know HOW to do any of that”, I’ve got you covered! A few other budget-friendly ways to spruce up your space could be:

  • Changing out the photos in your existing frames

  • Rearrange the books on your shelves and add new ones

  • Add some greenery to the room (fake plants are the BEST)

  • Go thrifting and find some unique new decor

  • Purge items that no longer feel “on brand” with your overall aesthetic

  • Switch around your rugs from one room to the other

  • Add a lamp or two for more ambient lighting

  • Paint a room or wall with one of the forecasted colors of the year

I hope this inspires you to heed the call when you feel the desire to spruce up your space. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, and it can be there perfect solution to making you home feel even more like home!

I’d love to know which of these ideas is your favorite, and even better, I’d love to see a photo of your spruced-up space! Tag me on Instagram @lucysinspired!
